The HPSU Class of 2020 - Startup Showcase

Yesterday we attended Enterprise Ireland’s annual HPSU Start-up Showcase, celebrating the High Potential Start-up Class of 2020!

Enterprise Ireland invested over €48 Million in 125 new start-ups and covid-impacted high potential start-ups last year, including us, Brickfield Education Labs.

The online showcase was introduced by Jennifer Melia, the Divisional Manager HPSU Division for Enterprise Ireland. Jennifer welcomed Taoiseach Micheál Martin, who delivered a welcome speech to the 125 start-ups, as well as banks, accelerators, investors, and more. In the role of MC, Jonathan Healy chatted with Tanaiste Leo Varadkar, and Executive Director of Enterprise Ireland Kevin Sherry. During this fireside chat the panel touched on economic recovery, climate action and diversity in business. It was also great to hear Tánaiste Leo Varadkar, broadcaster Jonathan Healy, and Enterprise Ireland’s Kevin Sherry emphasize the importance of female-led start-ups.

Keynote Speaker Des Traynor then shared lessons he had learned from his early days in Intercom, giving words of advice to the Class of 2020 about the importance of vision and mission, clever recruiting and first customers.

This was followed by two panels: Starting and Scaling a Disruptive Product Based Business, and Starting and Scaling in the ICT Sector.

The start-up Class of 2020 then met virtually with stakeholders in the start-up ecosystem!
