On Tuesday, April 19th, we will be joining Gemma Lesterhuis from Lesterhuis Training & Consultancy for their webinar ‘7 Accessibility Tips to Improve your Moodle Course Content’.

Gavin Henrick, CEO and Co-Founder of Brickfield Education Labs, and Laia Joana Canet will chat about the importance of Accessibility for Moodle content, discuss what to focus on, and share their 7 tips to improve the accessibility of your course content.

As it is April, #AutismAcceptanceMonth, there is no better time to start your accessibility journey in Moodle.

Learning about accessibility is something that everyone can benefit from, no matter how you work digitally. This session will be valuable whether you have already started your journey to improve the accessibility of your courses or if you are just starting. We would love to see you there! 

This webinar will be in English and will be a maximum of 45 minutes. There will be a Q&A at the end! 

What to expect for this webinar 

During this live session, Gemma, Gavin and Laia will discuss key questions which include: 

  • How would you define accessibility, and why is it important?
  • How to make sure that Moodle is accessible on a range of devices, including the mobile app?
  • How do the various versions of Moodle address accessibility issues? Is there a recommended version?

Tune in to hear Gavin and Laia’s answers to the above questions. In addition, attendees will also hear seven tips and tricks for the following: 

  • creating accessible images
  • creating accessible multimedia
  • setting up Moodle courses accessibly

Our team will also run through a quick demonstration of the Brickfield Accessibility Toolkit: a Moodle certified integration.

Laia Joana Canet is a consultant with more than 20 years of experience in education and ICT, accompanying organizations in the implementation of Moodle, designing their training courses and developing a learning strategy for adapting face to face courses to online. Since 2005, she has been assisting Moodle and Spanish Moodle partners. She has translated a variety of Moodle plugins into Spanish and Catalan. Laia is a digital accessibility enthusiast and works to ensure that online learning is accessible to everyone.

Gemma Lesterhuis received her nickname: Moodle Meisje in 2011. After three years working as a Moodle site administrator, Moodle turned into a true passion. 

In 2014 she started Lesterhuis Training & Consultancy as a way to share her enthusiasm and passion for Moodle with educators in the Netherlands by delivering independent support and guidance to organisations.
